ASFS Support for Postgraduates
Postgraduate Discussion Forum.
During a special event for Postgraduates at the 2007 ASFS conference, those present expressed a wish for a discussion forum for French Postgrads in Australia. To this end, a Facebook group has been created for the Society on which is hosted a special discussion forum for Postgrads. To join this forum, please create a facebook profile (www.facebook.com), then search for the 'Australian Society for French Studies' group and request membership.
2009 Postgraduate Travel Grants
The ASFS is grateful to FATFA and the French Embassy for their support in providing funds to help finance these travel grants.
The Australian Society for French Studies is pleased to offer travel grants to postgraduate students wishing to attend our XVIIth Annual Conference, at the University of Queensland, from 15 - 17 July, 2009.
The following grants will be available:
* Up to 2 grants of up to $700 for applicants from Western Australia, New Zealand or the Pacific region.
* Up to 2 grants of up to $400 for other interstate applicants.
Conditions:
1. The applicant
* must be currently enrolled in a higher degree in a French program
* must be presenting a paper at the conference
* should not have applied for travel funding from other sources.
* at the time of application must be a fully paid-up member of ASFS (the Society offers a substantially reduced membership rate to students )
2. Payment of grants will be by reimbursement of legitimate conference expenses only (travel costs, registration and accommodation). Successful applicants will be reimbursed up to the amount of the awarded grant, upon presentation of receipts.
3. Preference will be given to applicants whose papers address the conference theme in some way.
Applicants wishing to be considered for a 2009 Postgraduate Travel Grant should apply to Juliana de Nooy at j.denooy@uq.edu.au by April 15, 2009. Applications should be in the form of a letter addressing the eligibility criteria in 1 (including a statement to the effect that no other funding has been sought / is available), an indicative budget of costs to be incurred for attendance at the conference and an explanation addressing point 3.
